Surf Life Saving In The Community
Surf Life Saving in the community with Paddle Round The Pier Beach Festival & Brighton Surf Life Saving Club
It’s certainly no secret the great work Paddle Round The Pier has done for charity these past 22 years but few people are aware of the considerable outreach work the event also promotes in the community.
The schools Surf Life Saving Program has now been running each June for the past 7 years and sees different groups of school children from across Sussex introduced to the fundamentals of being a Beach Lifeguard and Surf Life Saving as am exciting sport. Packed into a very full day the youngsters are taught first and foremost to respect the sea.
The day’s activities include basic lifeguarding skills such as the use of a rescue board, rescue tube and sea swimming – yes they all get wet! Time is also spent dry-side on CPR and first aid ensuring every youngster present knows the core skills required to save a life.
Paddle Round The Pier are delighted to once again be working with Brighton Surf Life Saving Club & SLSGB to deliver these valuable lessons which really do save lives.
There are still a few dates available so get your school to get in touch now!
The Schools Surf Lifesaving Program runs from June 3rd until July 19th .
We actively encourage schools to select children that will gain from a day of learning outside of the classroom environment and who may not get the opportunity to partake in beach activities in their home life. Appropriate risk assessments will be carried out prior to the session and all coaches are DBS checked.
So you don’t like school sports? Think again and come and experience a day of Life Saving!
